The School Board is responsible for the governance of Botany Downs Secondary College and works alongside the Principal and staff to help set the strategic direction of the school, with input from our school community.
The Board’s role includes overseeing the management of personnel, curriculum, property, finance and administration, while helping ensure the College provides a safe environment and quality education for all students.
At BDSC, our aim is to provide each student with the best possible opportunity to benefit from their time at the College, developing both their knowledge and character across academic and co-curricular areas.

The Strategic Plan outlines the School Board’s strategic aims for the next three to five years. It reflects the Board’s priorities for making a difference to student achievement and progress, particularly for Māori and Pasifika students and students with special education needs.
The Annual Plan identifies the School Board’s priorities for the coming year, including the actions it will take to support student progress and achievement.
The Education Review Office | Te Tari Arotake Mātauranga (ERO) is the New Zealand government’s external evaluation agency, providing independent evaluation that supports improvement across New Zealand schools.
ERO’s impartial and objective monitoring and evaluation helps provide confidence in the quality of pre-tertiary education.

Botany Downs Secondary College works with SchoolDocs to provide a website for maintaining, updating and reviewing our school policies.
SchoolDocs updates policies in response to changes in legislation and Ministry guidelines, reviews and requests from schools, and regular research from the SchoolDocs team.
Our School Board has the opportunity to view changes and additions and comment on them before they are implemented. We will advise our community when policies are up for review and how you can take part in the review.
